And I can hardly think of a food item with a stronger claim to health benefits. By Daniel Prial, NCAT Agriculture Specialist NCAT IT 14 March, 2020 USDA Approves State and Tribal Hemp Production Plans USDA approved the first set of plans submitted by states and Indian tribes for the domestic production of hemp under the U.S. Domestic Hemp Production Program. Plans were submitted by the states of Louisiana, New Jersey, and Ohio, and the Flandreau Santee Sioux, Santa Rosa Cahuilla, and La Jolla Band of Luiseno Indian Tribes. To produce hemp, growers must be licensed or authorized under a state, tribe, or USDA production program. USDA maintains a list of plans under review and approved plans on its website.
